Summer SOAK - It's that time of year again! Here is the current information. on the SU website and the Program Offerings.  Hard copies are available at school if you want them.  Scholarship Links are here.


Summer SOAK is a four-week full-day summer program that is offered by the WCSU.  This year, SOAK runs from July 2rd-July 27th, 2017.  SOAK offers academic, service learning, and enrichment activities at the middle/high school campus.  Activities that are offered typically include things like mountain biking, lego robotics, art programs, swimming, building rockets, theater, and many more.  By providing this four-week program, we hope to achieve the goal of improving students’ academic achievement while providing a variety of enriching opportunities. Summer SOAK online activity registration accounts can be started now, and health forms, subsidy forms, and participation forms are available to start getting a jump on registration. Online registration for SOAK programs opens March 12th.

-Breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided.  -Scholarships and subsidy are available.

-Summer SOAK will begin on July 2nd, and will run for four weeks, from 8:30-3:30 (with no SOAK on July 4th).
-Registration opens online March 12th 2018. To register, you will need to set up an account at www.summersoak.com if you have not already done so.  You can also get in touch with Sherry Sousa, SOAK Program Director, at the WCSU Central Office at 457-1213 x1081.

WCSU Band Showcase - Are you ready to hear beautiful music?  The Band Showcase is this Tuesday March 13th.  Mrs. Morton will meet the students at the WUHS gym.  After they are dropped off, parents are expected back at 6:00 to hear the band perform and they hope to be finished by 6:30 PM.   Mrs. Morton and our band students have been working hard to get ready - last Thursday was band day and it was a snow day! Thank you for supporting music in our schools! 

Message from the Nurse - Passport to Winter Fun Update
The Passport to Winter Fun program is almost over! All students who complete 30 days of the Passport will receive a Polar Bear Achiever Prize and be entered into a Grand Prize Raffle (a chance to win snowshoes, ski passes, an ipod, and more!). 
All students who have completed 20 days of the passport are eligible for a FREE pass to Okemo on Sun., March 18th!  Let the ticket booth know you are from Reading Elementary School.  Okemo will have a list of Reading Students who qualify.  Special rates for accompanying parents, one day ticket:
  • Adult: $47
  • Young Adult/Senior: $41
  • Junior/Super Senior: $35

Message from Mrs. Faulkner in Pre-K - We could use the following for some of our upcoming projects: paper towel tubes and small boxes of any kind (no larger than 12”x12”). We would like the boxes by Monday, March 19 and the paper towel tubes by Monday, March 26.  Thanks so much!
