RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG - ROCKETS REPORT - Sun., March 4, 2018

Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members:

It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the Budget Meeting on Wed.  If you have detailed questions about the budget that weren't answered, please feel free to call me or make an appointment to discuss.  This is a full blog with lots of important news and information.  There are several time sensitive articles, so please read below.  Thanks!

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • All of you who came to the budget/board  meeting Wed. night!
  • The parents and community members who came to Town Meeting!
  • Justin Sluka for all his work with the Board throughout the years!
Other Items of Interest:

Snow Day/Emergency Closure Announcement - Please read THIS letter from the superintendent regarding emergency closures.

School Emergency Information - With all of the recent news, there is a intense focus and reexamination of all safety policies.  Here is a brochure issued from the State of VT regarding what you should do as a parent should there be an emergency at school.  We have been assigned a State Police representative who will be working with us to make sure all our policies are current.

Food Survey - One of the goals of the unified district is to reduce food costs throughout the district.  We all know we have delicious and economical food thanks to our incredible and talented chef, Heather.   Here is the message going home to all families in the SU via newsletters, etc.  Please complete the survey by March 7 - WED.

Dear Community Members,

Our school district is currently looking to improve upon our food service program across all campuses, in terms of both cost and consistent quality.  As we proceed in this effort, we would greatly appreciate and value community input.  Please take a few minutes to complete this brief survey.  The deadline for submission is Wednesday March 7, 2018.

Many thanks,
The Windsor Central Modified Unified Union School District Board
Communications Committee

Summer Program Expo - Please consider attending:

Message from Mrs. Grenier, PE Teacher  -  Please read this letter about the upcoming plans for Jump Rope for Heart.

Ski Runners - This is our last Friday of Ski Runners.  We're expecting some snow this week, so conditions should be okay to ski.  It has a "St. Patrick" theme so skiers are asked to wear green if they choose.

Parents are allowed a $10. refund that paid online.  If you would like your refund, please let me know as we are trying to finish up the accounting for that.  Otherwise, I will use that $10. towards the transportation cost and to support those who need financial assistance.

Sue Molder has been an amazing help to me with this program but she is NOT able to assist me next Friday so I am looking for a parent to assist me.  Skis get taken to the mountain at noon so that the students get right to the slopes.  If you can help with this, please let me know.  I have to leave early next week due to a college class in Marlboro, so I need a parent to be in charge of making sure everyone gets on the bus with their stuff.  If you can help, please let me know.

Summer SOAK - It's that time of year again! Here is the current information. on the SU website and the Program Offerings.  Hard copies are available at school if you want them.  Scholarship Links are here.
