RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG - ROCKETS REPORT - SUN., OCT. 22, 2017

Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members:

Friday was such a fun day with everyone super comfortable wearing their pajamas and slippers.  Mrs. Denoya, the 1/2 teacher, even wore her "hedgehog" pajamas which were all the rage!  Lots of school spirit and celebration!

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • The families who sent in the yellow e-mail/transportation forms which helped update our files.  The big packet forms that came home at the beginning of school did not have this information on it so the office needs them.
  • The parents and community members who attended the Board Meeting Wed.evening.
  • Dennis Barbour for all his help with the pumpkin planting, growing, and harvesting!
Other Items of Interest:

Toy Procedures - Many classrooms have "SHARE" days where students are asked to bring things in to share.  We ask that toys, stuffed animals, etc. stay home unless the teacher has specifically asked the students to bring something in.  Sadly, toys and stuffed animals are major distractions to learning.

Birthday Invitations/Cupcakes Procedures - If your child is celebrating a birthday, we as a group sing a special RES "Happy Birthday" song.  Students may bring cupcakes in for their class as well.  If you're not sure about food allergies, please contact your child's teacher or Sherry.  We ask that any kind of invitation that is handed out for a party be for the students in that class only and the teacher will schedule time at the end of their day for the "handing out."

"RES" Pumpkin Raffle - The Reading PTO will hold its 6th annual Great Pumpkin Raffle this year! Each classroom will decorate a pumpkin to be raffled off. The lucky winners will have a one of a kind Halloween decoration!

Tickets cost $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.  Any checks should be made out to the Reading School PTO.  Children can get extra tickets from Mrs. Hatt. The winners will be drawn Fri., Oct. 27 during morning meeting, and the pumpkins will be ready to take home Tues., Oct. 31. Celebrate all the silliness and spookiness of Halloween and help raise funds to support school activities such as field trips and swim lessons.

Students will be bringing home raffle tickets this week, please encourage your child to see as many as possible and please send the portion of the sold raffle tickets and  money back to the school in a sealed enveloped with your child's name on it to the office no later than 2 PM on Thurs., Oct. 26.  We will have the drawing on Fri., Oct. 27 during morning meeting at 7:35 AM.  The winners will be able to choose their pumpkins at that time.

Parent Conferences - Teachers will be hosting parent conferences the first two weeks of November after school.  Please contact your child's teacher if you have not already signed up for a conference.

Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members:

What a busy week it's been!  Thursday, the PTO provided yummy pizza, salad, and drinks to families for the Back to School Night!  Families visited classrooms from 5:30 - 6:30 PM. THEN the PTO organized and executed an outstanding "Leaf Peeper's Breakfast" today from 8 - 10:30 AM.  (This blog is late because I was there helping....)  The PTO is a major supporter of many student activities and we really appreciate the hard work and efforts that are expended on our behalf!

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • All the PTO helpers who provided pizza and salad for us Thursday!
  • Kate Allen, Tatiana McCarthy, Jess Seaman, Darcy Blanchard, John Malcolm, Vanessa Maxham, Amy Harkins, Pete Seaman, for baking, cooking, and cleaning during the  breakfast!
  • Students:  Audrey, Calvin, Lilly, Cyrus, and Kelton who helped clean up after the breakfast today.
  • All the families who attended "Back to School Night" and signed up for a conference.
  • All the families who attended the "Leaf Peeper" Breakfast.
