RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG - ROCKETS REPORT - Sun., Oct. 8, 2017

Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members:

Someone recently said to me, Vermont is the land of layers, and it's certainly true right now here at RES.  It's chilly in the morning, and hot by the afternoon, so it's important that the children dress in layers.  If a student is too hot, too cold, too tired, too hungry,  learning is impacted. Thank you for encouraging your child to dress appropriately for the seasonal weather changes, and that they've had a good night's sleep!

Just a reminder, school is CLOSED tomorrow for the legal holiday of Columbus Day.  We'll see you between 7:15 and 7:30 AM on Tuesday!

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • Vanessa Maxham for helping out with the "Rice Bowl" lunch
  • Tatiana McCarthy for all her work with the RES PTO!
  • All the families who have their students at school on time by 7:30.
Other Items of Interest:

"RES" Back to School Night & Pizza Dinner - This Thursday, Oct. 12, please come meet with your child's teacher and see the work that they've been doing!  The PTO graciously provides a pizza dinner and salad for families at 5 PM!   You'll have time to tour classrooms from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.  These are not parent conferences, though you will be able to sign up for one scheduled in November.  Teachers will have their conference schedules posted at the open house so you can plan ahead.

Leaf Peeper's Breakfast -  The PTO is also sponsoring the annual Leaf Peeper's Breakfast is next Sun., Oct. 15 at RES.  Parents are asked to sign up and send in food donations to help offset the cost for the food.  If you don't come into school, but would like to sign up to bring something, please contact Tatiana McCarthy

PBIS Celebrations - Every Friday our students celebrate filling the "Respectablewhich is a glass rocket using tiles that their class has accumulated in their small class rockets.  Part of PBIS is having "celebrations" when the students meet certain letters in the "rocket" container.  The RES Student Council met several times and suggested many different ways to celebrate our PBIS success.  We will be celebrating the following ways on FRIDAYS starting this Friday.   Learning continues, even if we are dressed differently.
