Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members,

We are celebrating all the mothers out there!  Thanks don't begin to express the gratitude we have for all you do to support your children!

Next week is also the PTO's "Teacher and Staff Appreciation" week.  Please contact Tots if you'd like to help out and haven't had time yet!

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • The six parents and two community members who came to the "Chat with the Superintendent."
  • Esther Allen for helping tend to our front geraniums!
  • Tots McCarthy for volunteering to chaperone Jr. Rangers Friday.
Other Items of Interest:

WCUD Agenda - Here is the AGENDA for the upcoming unified board meeting which is this Monday, May 14, at the SU office, at 6 PM.

Kindergarten Registration - Thurs., May 17 10-11:30 AM.  Please contact Ms. Hatt to reserve your time.  Please contact Mrs. Boyer-Sheldon if you have questions at pboyersheldon@wcsu.net.

SBAC Testing -   The annual SBAC testing continues this week for Gr. 3-4, and Gr. 5 has Science.  Here is the schedule.  Please make sure your child has a good night's sleep, and  breakfast with protein to help them do their best on the test.  There is no studying, just a good mental state and the desire to do their best is all that's needed!  Please try and have your Gr. 3-6 students arrive promptly and avoid appointments during these two weeks during school hours.  Thanks for your help!

Pre-K Registration - Parents of PK parents, please register your students using the WCUD forms linked here AND if you are from another district, please complete your district forms as well.  All students must register for five days though we understand that they may not attend all five.  If your child is currently enrolled in our PK program, they must be re-enrolled for next year.

Afterschool Program - Forms came home Friday regarding a mini after school program that will be offered 3 days a week starting May 21, M, W, and Thursdays until the end of the year.  Find the link to the forms HERE.

Gr. 6 Celebration - Please join us as we celebrate at 5 PM on Tuesday, June 12, as our 6th graders leave the RES nest and move on to the middle school.  They will spend a half day at the middle school on Wed., June 13.  This year we have moved it to the evening so working parents could make it, but every grade has a role in the ceremony.  Please bring your child to school by 4:45 PM to participate.   Afterwards, the PTO parents will be providing cupcakes.

PTO Yard Sale - On Sat., June 2, the RES PTO will be holding a yard sale from 8 - 2 PM.  Please donate gently used items for this sale.  Items can be brought to school Thurs., May 31 after school, and Friday, June 1 during and after school.  Please bring items to the cafeteria.  We will be using these funds to help support the after school program next year.

Family Fun- Saturday, June 2, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.:  Trek to Taste The 10th annual celebration of trails, local food, and healthy living will be hosted at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park and Billings Park. Guided walks start at 10:30 and noon, or grab a map and venture out on your own. Choose from several hike options and along the way sample free, delicious foods from local producers.
