RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG - ROCKETS REPORT - Sun., May 6, 2018

Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members,

What a fantastic spring concert!  It was wonderful to see the audience tapping their feet and swaying to the music!  See the pics below!

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • The Sylvesters for helping put up chairs after the concert!
  • All of you who have sold raffle tickets for the CSA.
  • Everyone who came to the concert!
Other Items of Interest:

CSA Drawing - Kudos to Brody Allen who won the PTO CSA Drawing.

Chat with the Superintendent - This Thursday, May 10, from  6 - 7 PM, the Superintendent will be here for an informal question and answer session with families.  We will do this in the cafeteria and we will have volunteered staff on the playground to watch the students.

Library Books - Please check in with your child and have them bring overdue books back tomorrow.  Thank you!

Pre-K Registration - If your child is currently enrolled in our PK program, they must be re-enrolled for next year.   Please fill out the packet and send it in if you have not already done so.  If you are from another SU, please fill out there's as well.  We only have 20 slots, and we'd hate for your child to not have a spot.

Kindergarten Registration - Thurs., May 17 10-11:30 AM.  Please contact Ms. Hatt to reserve your time.  Please contact Mrs. Boyer-Sheldon if you have questions at pboyersheldon@wcsu.net.

SBAC Testing -   The annual SBAC testing continues this week for Gr. 3-6.  Here is the schedule.  Please make sure your child has a good night's sleep, and  breakfast with protein to help them do their best on the test.  There is no studying, just a good mental state and the desire to do their best is all that's needed!  Please try and have your Gr. 3-6 students arrive promptly and avoid appointments during these two weeks during school hours.  Thanks for your help!

Pre-K Registration - Parents of PK parents, please register your students using the WCUD forms linked here AND if you are from another district, please complete your district forms as well.  All students must register for five days though we understand that they may not attend all five.

Afterschool Program - Forms will be coming home this week regarding a limited after school program that will be offered 3 days a week starting May 21, M, W, and Thursdays until the end of the year.

End of the School Year - As it stands now the last day of school for PK-6 students  will be Wed., June 13.  It will be a half day if the Board approves it on May 16 at the RES Board Meeting.

Gr. 6 Celebration - Please join us as we celebrate at 5 PM on Tuesday, June 12, as our 6th graders leave the RES nest and move on to the middle school.  They will spend a half day at the middle school on Wed., June 13.  This year we have moved it to the evening so working parents could make it, but every grade has a role in the ceremony.  Please bring your child to school by 4:45 PM to participate.   Afterwards, the PTO parents will be providing cupcakes.

Family Fun- Saturday, June 2, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.:  Trek to Taste The 10th annual celebration of trails, local food, and healthy living will be hosted at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park and Billings Park. Guided walks start at 10:30 and noon, or grab a map and venture out on your own. Choose from several hike options and along the way sample free, delicious foods from local producers. Enjoy family games, arts and crafts, demonstrations, and ice cream social, music and more. This free event is co-sponsored by dozens of community organizations.  www.trektotaste.info
