RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG - ROCKETS REPORT - Sun., May 15, 2017

Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members:

In celebration of you all of you who are mothers/aunts/grandmothers to our students!

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • The PTO who made everyone feel so appreciated with the lovely baked goods, herbs, massages, and goat milk product baskets!
  • The parents who drove for swimming for Gr. K, 1/2, and 5/6 swimming !
Other Items of Interest:

SBAC Testing - This continues for Gr. 3/4 this week.  We want our students to do their best and show what an outstanding school we have here at Reading!  Please help us by having your students here, well-rested, and having a protein-filled breakfast.  Please avoid having appointments during these weeks as it can affect your child's testing scores.  Students can't "study" for these tests, but a well-rested student will do better!  Please check out this website for more information - practice tests, tutorials, etc.

WEATHER FORECAST - So we made a decision to postpone Day of Caring at RES based on the weather forecast which of course changed.  We still have lots of projects that could use your help!  Please call Libbet to schedule a time that's convenient to come in and volunteer!  Thank you!

Pre-K 2017-18 Sign-Up -  We are ready to sign Pre-K students up for next year. Please contact Libbet to schedule an appointment.

WINTER PATH CONTEST - So the entire school participated in a contest that was statewide encouraging students to get out and exercise!  Our very own Kindergarten class won the L.L.Bean Day Class that was offered as a grand prize for the UVTA Winter Fun program, so L.L. Bean will be visiting this Thursday, May 18, from  1230 - 2 PM here at RES. Congratulations!

HELP!!!  Do You Know An RES Alumni? - We've only had 4 people do our survey as alumni - thank you to Patricia, Robert, Camille, and Shannon who did!  Our library media/tech classes are conducting a survey and creating a digital living history to represent the past and present of Reading Elementary School and we need your help!   Did you attend Reading Elementary School?  Do you know someone who did?  If you did, then please complete the survey and ask other alumni, to complete the attached SURVEY. Students will be researching their town and school history and preserving it digitally. Check out what we've done so far at RES PAST AND PRESENT.
