RES PRINICIPAL'S BLOG - ROCKETS REPORT - SUN., APRIL 1, 2018

Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members,

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • All of you who attended the Easter Egg Hunt yesterday at school!
  • Jane Cleveland for coming in and reading weekly with a student!
  • The Reading Rec. Commission for all it does to provide fun activities for our community children!
Other Items of Interest:

Safety First - EACH child is so precious and like you, we often lose sleep worrying about keeping them safe.  We have had several scary moments with cars and kids, so can you please help us with the following:

  • Please don't park in the fire lane during school hours EXCEPT for letting your child OUT of the car.  If you are walking your child to class, please park in the lot.
  • PLEASE help us keep your child safe by having them "stop" at the stop signs and wait for an adult to let them out of the building.
  • We also ask that pre-k parents hold their child's hand until they have them in the car.
  • Please drive SLOWLY into the parking lot at ALL times.  This is a popular place for students to ride their bikes, so please be aware of that!
Illness Help - We have had an unusual amount of "tummy" sickness at RES.  We have been in touch with the VT Health Dept. and they have asked us to remind families that if a child has had diarrhea, nausea, fever, or vomiting, they should NOT come to school for 24 hours AFTER the last symptom.  If your child says they are not feeling well, please keep them home.  We have had several students come to school not feeling well, and they threw up once they were here exposing all students and staff to those germs.

Washing hands continue to be the best way to prevent sharing germs.  We have had the school "deep cleaned" with lots of bleach and water.  According to the Health Dept. the stomach bug can live in the intestines for up to 2 weeks, so washing hands after going to the bathroom is crucial to keep from spreading it.  If your child goes to the dr. and is diagnosed with something, please let the office know.
