RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG - ROCKETS REPORT - SUN., MAY 7, 2017

Dear Reading Elementary "Rockets" Families & Community Members:

What amazing sights and sounds abounded at the 2017 RES Spring Concert!   What a perfect integration of art and music, and major applause goes to our talented art teacher, Mrs. Lisa Kaija, and our music teacher, Mrs. Christine Morton. Anyone who has pictures they'd like to share, please send them to me.  Our musicians have grown so much over the year!  Lots of pictures and video clips below.

It's also Teacher/Staff Appreciation week in education.  Our school is SO amazing because of the incredible dedication of our staff.  Please take a moment this week to express your appreciation to them!  Positive e-mails and notes from students are always cherished!

Kudos and heartfelt thanks to:
  • All of you who purchased/sold raffle tickets!
  • All of you who attended the Spring Concert!
  • Mason Harkins, Robbie Macri, Scott Baumann, and Rick Stahl for helping me break down the cafeteria after the concert!
  • All of you who drove our Pre-K and Gr. 5/6 swimmers this week!
Other Items of Interest:

SBAC Testing - Effective Mon., May 8, the annual required testing for Gr. 3-6 begins at RES and will continue for 2 weeks for each grade.  We want our students to do their best and show what an outstanding school we have here at Reading!  Please help us by having your students here, well-rested, and having a protein-filled breakfast.  Please avoid having appointments during these weeks as it can affect your child's testing scores.  Students can't "study" for these tests, but a well-rested student will do better!  Please check out this website for more information - practice tests, tutorials, etc.

RES VISION - Many of you who attended the spring concert, you saw the RES Vision marketing video that I created.  Based on comments received there, I have linked it on our web page and am including a link HERE.  Please share it electronically and let's market our beautiful school!  Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

DAY OF CARING - Our day of caring was rained out - but we've rescheduled it for next Sat., May 12, from 8 - 11.  Please come and help beautify our school! Remember to bring rakes, gloves, shovels, flowers to plant, etc.  We're also in need of some contractor skills - carpentry, plumbing, drywalling, etc. If you have a skill to share, please let me know!  Light refreshments available.  Thanks!

Pre-K 2017-18 Sign-Up -  We are ready to sign Pre-K students up for next year. Please contact Libbet to schedule an appointment.

HELP!!!  Do You Know An RES Alumni? - We've only had 4 people do our survey as alumni - thank you to Patricia, Robert, Camille, and Shannon who did!  Our library media/tech classes are conducting a survey and creating a digital living history to represent the past and present of Reading Elementary School and we need your help!   Did you attend Reading Elementary School?  Do you know someone who did?  If you did, then please complete the survey and ask other alumni, to complete the attached SURVEY. Students will be researching their town and school history and preserving it digitally. Check out what we've done so far at RES PAST AND PRESENT.
